About Josh

I’m a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and an avid fan of Cardinals Baseball, roots-rock music, and great pretzels. When I’m not writing, I love to read, especially about history, politics, and economics.

I graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Political Science in 2011. Like a lot of liberal arts graduates, I felt aimless. I knew I could write well. I knew I loved learning and helping people communicate their ideas. But I didn’t have the confidence or vision to turn those attributes into a career.

So, like so many liberal arts graduates, I decided to go to law school. I prepared for the LSAT like my career depended on it, and ended up with a perfect score and full-ride scholarship to one of the best law schools in the world.

I enjoyed my time in law school. I learned a lot, met tons of interesting people, and got a chance to polish my writing and research skills. But by the end of my first year, I was sure of one thing: I just didn’t want to be a lawyer.

I wanted to learn how to make important ideas accessible to everyday people, not how to hide ideas within the rigid mechanics of the law.

So, in May 2008, I made the hardest decision of my life. I left a full-ride scholarship at an Ivy League Law School to go out on my own. I had two objectives. First, to earn a living doing what I’m passionate about–writing–on my own terms. Second, to never stop learning.

It was the best decision of my life. I continue learning every day (and, in fact, have earned a Masters Degree in Economics). And I get to do what I love: turn ideas into written content that is genuinely useful for clients and readers alike.
